Farm-to-Table Goodness Coming to Riverstone

December 4, 2016

Madera, CA - There are many benefits that come from raising and consuming locally harvested food, and families who call the new master-planned community of Riverstone their home will come to know them firsthand.

A proposed community farm, Riverstone Farms is anticipated to yield an abundance of great-tasting fruits and vegetables available to the community at large.
Envisioned as an inviting, indoor-outdoor venue for the community's residents, the planned Riverstone Farms Market and community farm are expected to host a number of resident-only gatherings and celebrations in every season.

Paying homage to the rich agricultural pedigree of the community’s lands (which were home to historic S&J Ranch more than six decades ago), Riverstone Farms is an envisioned venue that’s expected to yield all sorts of great-tasting wholesomeness—from oranges and kale in summer to root vegetables in early fall.

“You’ll see a creative nod to our agrarian past all throughout our community,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “In addition to our community farm, we’re setting aside vast open space, creating an abundance of neighborhood parks, and weaving remnant groves throughout our landscaping at every opportunity.”

The planned community farm venue is also envisioned to include Riverstone Farms Market, a rustic, contemporary-styled structure that will be a distinctive landmark visible from Highway 41. With high ceilings, abundant natural light from clerestory windows and large barn-like sliding doors, the market will be a convenient spot for residents to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables for wholesome farm-to-table meal preparations at home.

“We’re truly excited about our upcoming community farm and market,” said Riverstone’s Nick Bruno. “Not only will the amenity be a wonderful nod to our agrarian past, but it will serve as a vibrant, sociable gathering place for residents and the greater community.”

“Heritage, legacy and not turning our backs to the history of the land…these were the big ideas for Riverstone,” said Todd Larner, Senior Principal of Community Planning and Design of William Hezmalhalch Architects, the land-planning firm guiding the Riverstone vision.

“Inspired by the incredible open spaces, farms and existing agriculture around us, we’re creating Riverstone to offer a similar kind of unique and endearing California lifestyle that’s woven all throughout the Central Valley, in towns like Madera, Fresno and Clovis.”

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, the master-planned community of Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, multiple resort-style community clubhouses, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, a community farm, historic olive and citrus groves, on-site schools, a sustainable water supply and a nearby stretch of the San Joaquin River and adjacent lake.

Riverstone’s inaugural collection of new homes from local, award-winning homebuilder, McCaffrey Homes, is currently under construction, with model homes anticipated to open early 2017. McCaffrey is currently offering pre-sales on its Santerra collection of new homes, giving homebuyers the chance to take advantage of attractive ground floor pricing as well as an excellent selection of homesites. For more information on McCaffrey Homes’ Santerra and its pre-sales opportunity, call Liberty Square Welcome Center at (559) 276-7533.
