Riverstone: A Big Heart for Giving Back

November 10, 2019

The developers behind the 2,000-acre master-planned community of Riverstone are committed to making their hometown even better—and that includes everyone who calls the Central Valley home. Riverstone recently took part in supporting a number of worthwhile causes and events that are dedicated to improving people’s lives and making a meaningful difference.

Representatives from Riverstone offered heart-healthy tips—as well as Wonderful pistachios, almonds and oranges—at the recent Heart Walk, the American Heart Association’s premier fundraising event.
Riverstone is proud to support the Fresno Football Club’s Foxes, the Valley’s first professional soccer club belonging to the USL. Here, even the youngest residents come out to cheer on the home team.

Riverstone lent its support to the Heart Walk, the American Heart Association’s premier event for raising funds to save lives from our nation’s number-one and number-five killers—heart disease and stroke. Visited by nearly 1,400 people, Riverstone’s booth at the event featured students from Fresno State’s nursing program who discussed healthy food choices and their importance to overall heart health. Delicious and nutritious pistachios, almonds and oranges from The Wonderful Company were passed out in reusable Riverstone grocery bags—a heart-healthy treat for all.

Those participating in the Heart Walk join more than a million Heart Walk Heroes in more than 300 locations across the country. They become trailblazers in the organization’s Healthy For Good movement, funding the kind of breakthrough science that saves lives every day.

This past September marked the 23rd anniversary of Harvest Ball, a Signature Event of Valley Children’s Hospital, a healthcare organization that Riverstone has helped to support for the past four years. Riverstone was a Gold-level sponsor of the recent gala, which has grown to host more than 900 of the Valley’s most generous philanthropists each year.

“We’re proud to be able to support Valley Children’s and the annual Harvest Ball,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to the life-saving mission of Valley Children’s and play a small role in helping them fulfill their vision in becoming the nation’s best children’s hospital.”

Valley Children’s, located just 3.5 miles from Riverstone, was recently recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s “2019-2020 Best Children’s Hospitals” list. It nationally ranked in five pediatric specialties—the highest number of rankings Valley Children’s has ever received.

Riverstone also supports the Fresno Foxes, the Central Valley’s first professional soccer club. The team is a member of the United Soccer League (USL), just one division below Major League Soccer (MLS). A growing number of Riverstone residents are fans, regularly coming together to enjoy the top-class soccer action at Foxes home games, which are held at Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno.

The most exciting Riverstone news is Riverwalk—the community’s future shopping, dining and entertainment destination. The creatively imagined district, which had its official groundbreaking last month, is planned to provide a one-of-a-kind, mixed-use lifestyle retail experience that celebrates the agrarian heritage of both Riverstone and the region.

Lease-up activity for Riverwalk’s retail and office space has been extremely robust. Fully occupied buildings are anticipated by the last quarter of 2020. For inquiries, contact Timothy Jones or Nick Bruno at (559) 237-7000.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, multiple community clubhouses, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, a community farm, historic olive and citrus groves, a sustainable water supply, and on-site schools belonging to the Golden Valley Unified School District.
