Riverwalk Rising: New Retail Coming to Riverstone

November 9, 2019

It was an eventful day this past October as hundreds of people joined together to celebrate the official groundbreaking ceremony of Riverwalk—the highly anticipated shopping, dining and entertainment destination coming to the 2,000-acre community of Riverstone.

Madera County officials and representatives from Riverstone break ground on Riverwalk, the new shopping, dining and entertainment destination coming to North Fresno.
Featuring a contemporary-agrarian design aesthetic accented by creative landscaping and water features, Riverwalk is planned to include condominiums, offices, restaurants, retail stores and a movie theater. Image is an artist’s rendition.

The blustery weather seemed to mirror the excitement in the air as nearly 350 well wishers, Madera County officials and other dignitaries enjoyed the festivities of the invitation-only event—which included food and drinks from Riley’s Brew Pub and a stirring performance from electric violinist, Patrick Contreras.

Planned for more than one million square feet of commercial, Class-A office and retail space on two parcels located at Avenue 12 and Highway 41 just north of Fresno, Riverwalk is expected to provide visitors with a one-of-a-kind, mixed-use lifestyle retail experience that celebrates the agrarian heritage of both Riverstone and the region.

“We couldn’t be happier with the large turnout at Riverwalk’s groundbreaking and the very strong interest in this dynamic future development,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “We believe Riverwalk will resonate with today’s consumers by satisfying their desire for a fun and different kind of retail experience. We truly thought out-of-the-box in Riverwalk’s design, infusing it with many sociable spaces where people can just hang out and enjoy life. The North Fresno area simply doesn’t have a destination like this—until now.”

Lease-up activity for Riverwalk’s retail and office space has been extremely robust. Fully occupied buildings are anticipated by the last quarter of 2020. For inquiries, contact Timothy Jones or Nick Bruno at (559) 237-7000.

Riverwalk is envisioned as a new social epicenter for the region, and is planned to include restaurants, retail stores, a movie theater, offices and a limited collection of above-retail condominiums. Its contemporary-agrarian design aesthetic will be accented by creative landscaping and an abundance of water features, all intended to provide an inviting and comfortable dynamic.

“Best of all,” added Jones, “Riverwalk is located just across the road from the beautiful, innovative new-home collections of Riverstone—so all these brand-new shopping, culinary, social and entertainment offerings will be just steps away for our residents.”

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, multiple community clubhouses, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, a community farm, historic olive and citrus groves, a sustainable water supply, and on-site schools belonging to the award-winning Golden Valley Unified School District.
