Principal Named for Riverstone’s Stone Creek Elementary

October 16, 2020

In the search for a family dream home, more and more of today’s homebuyers are demanding one important feature: a dream school district. It’s a feature that comes standard with the new homes at Riverstone, the 2,000-acre masterplan community just north of Fresno.

Riverstone’s future on-site school—Stone Creek Elementary—is planned to feature 21st century classrooms, a state-of-the-art Library/Media Center, a dedicated music room, outdoor learning spaces and an outdoor amphitheater.
Right on track for its planned opening in time for the 2021 school year, Stone Creek Elementary will feature a dynamic sports complex with high-quality sports courts, ball fields and playgrounds.

The community of Riverstone is served by the award-winning Golden Valley USD, which is Madera’s number-one school district and one of the highest performing school districts in the Central Valley. Best of all, the opportunity for an on-site Golden Valley USD education will soon be available at Riverstone’s upcoming school campus—Stone Creek Elementary. Although the innovative 15.5-acre campus won’t open until the start of the 2021 school year, the school’s new principal has just been announced.

Shellie Roth has been named principal of Stone Creek Elementary. With 24 years of experience in education, Mrs. Roth brings a breadth of experience to her new position including 19 years as an English teacher at the secondary level and five years of experience at the elementary level—teaching first grade and transitional kindergarten, and also serving in an administrative role.

“I’m so excited about the whole community,” said Mrs. Roth. “I can’t wait to meet all the children and their families. All the amenities and opportunities are just amazing…I feel so blessed to be a part of Riverstone and Stone Creek!”

Mrs. Roth has been part of the Golden Valley Unified family since 2005, when she joined the Ranchos Middle School staff to teach English and drama. In 2016, Mrs. Roth transferred to Webster Elementary School, where she eventually became the assistant principal. During her time at Webster, she proudly served with the incredible Webster staff and amazing students who earned the California Distinguished School Award as well as the Fresno State Bonner Award for character and civic education.

“We’d like to congratulate and extend a warm welcome to Mrs. Roth—we’re so excited to have her on board,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “We’ve always emphasized the importance of providing top-notch education opportunities to our youngest residents, so the appointment of Shellie as our new principal at Stone Creek Elementary is welcome news for all.”

Enrollment is now open for Stone Creek Elementary for the 2021 school year. To sign up and enroll, email Shellie at sroth@gvusd.org or call the GVUSD main office at 559-645-3570.

Comprising nine schools serving nearly 2,000 students, Golden Valley USD maintains an exceptional student-teacher ratio of 24:1 and was named a Silver Award recipient for Best High Schools from U.S. News & World Report.

The school district, in addition to new-home variety and a wealth of family-friendly amenities, has no doubt factored into Riverstone’s nomination to receive the CVLUX Community of the Year Award. Riverstone won the prestigious accolade in 2019 and 2020, and has recently been nominated to receive the award for a third time.

Determined by the voting public, the CVLUX recognition honors only the best of the best in the Central Valley. Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes. Coming soon is the one-million-square-foot Riverwalk mixed-use lifestyle retail destination. Amenities at Riverstone include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, a dog park, a sustainable water supply and The Lodge community clubhouse with resort-style swimming pools, a trainer-designed fitness center, demonstration kitchen, Gear Barn, outdoor gathering spaces with firepits, and ongoing monthly activities such as self-defense classes, book clubs, arts and crafts, specialty meal cooking classes and more. Future amenities are anticipated to include hiking and biking trails, a community farm and the on-site Stone Creek Elementary school.
