Exciting, New Amenities Coming to Riverstone Community

October 14, 2018

Although many homeowners are already enjoying a wide variety of creatively imagined, family-friendly amenities at Riverstone, there is even more on the drawing board for the 2,000-acre Madera County master-planned community.

Just a short walk or bike ride away from Riverstone’s homes, Adventure Park offers play structures, climbing boulders, three different slides and grassy areas for all kinds of kid-sized fun.
Comfortable and stylish outdoor gathering places around firepits are among the many exciting amenities of The Lodge, the first community clubhouse of Madera County’s Riverstone.

The new amenities are planned to be located within Riverstone’s inaugural residential neighborhood—known as the Lodge District—which features three neighborhood parks (and three more on the way), a central community clubhouse called The Lodge, and three collections of stylish, innovative new homes from renowned builders.

All kinds of tail-wagging fun will soon be found at Central Bark, Riverstone’s new dog park. Now under construction, the dog park is envisioned to include canine-loving amenities such as trees, dog fountains and open-space areas ideal for running, frolicking and disc catching. Central Bark will feature separate areas for small dogs and big dogs, both with their own separate, gated entry. The separation will help ensure that both the dogs and their owners are able to enjoy a better, safer park-going experience.

The future hiking and biking trails at Riverstone are planned to eventually link all of the residential districts together. The first trail completed is anticipated to intersect existing agricultural lands, and extend to an overlook affording picturesque orchard vistas.

Paying homage to the rich agricultural pedigree of Riverstone’s lands (which were home to historic S&J Ranch more than six decades ago), the future Riverstone Farms is a planned venue that’s expected to yield all sorts of great-tasting wholesomeness—from oranges and kale in summer to root vegetables in early fall.

In addition to providing the many benefits that come from raising and consuming locally harvested food, Riverstone Farms is also envisioned as a picturesque, open-air venue for resident-only events throughout the year—everything from family reunions to unforgettable farm-to-table culinary celebrations set directly in the midst of the farm’s leafy embrace.

“Our agrarian history is clearly something we want to protect, preserve and celebrate,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “The future Riverstone Farms is a wonderful opportunity for us to continue our heritage of farming—but in a fun and engaging way.”

The planned community farm venue is also envisioned to include Riverstone Farms Market, a rustic, contemporary-styled structure that will be a distinctive landmark visible from Highway 41. With high ceilings, abundant natural light from clerestory windows and large barn-like sliding doors, the future market will be a convenient spot for residents to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables for wholesome farm-to-table meal preparations at home. “We’re truly excited about our future community farm and market,” said Riverstone’s Nick Bruno. “Not only will the future amenity be a wonderful nod to our agrarian past, but it will serve as a vibrant, sociable gathering place for residents and the greater community.”

Also coming to Riverstone is a future on-site elementary school that will belong to the Golden Valley Unified School District. An award-winning district known for its academic excellence and strong athletics program, Golden Valley USD comprises nine schools serving nearly 2,000 students. The district maintains an exceptional student-teacher ratio of 24:1, and was named a Silver Award recipient for Best High Schools from U.S. News & World Report.

The future education campus at Riverstone—anticipated to open in time for the 2021 school year—is planned to accommodate 625 students and feature 21st century classrooms, a state-of-the-art Library/Media Center, a dedicated music room, outdoor learning spaces, a large outdoor amphitheater and a dynamic sports complex.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, multiple community clubhouses, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, a community farm, historic olive and citrus groves, a sustainable water supply, and on-site schools belonging to the award-winning Golden Valley Unified School District.
