Riverstone: Land of Virtual Fun

May 15, 2020

The enjoyment of a close-knit sense of community is one of the top reasons why families call Riverstone home. That neighborly feeling is still evident today—but it’s being shared in a safe, socially distanced manner via online experiences.

Riverstone residents had a blast dressing up as their favorite Star Wars characters during the community’s May The Fourth Be With You costume contest.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, many Riverstone families participated in the community’s How Do You Fiesta—a fun contest in which residents shared photos of the Mexican food and drinks they enjoyed during their at-home celebrations.

“It’s sometimes easy to feel isolated with our stay-at-home situation, but our residents and staff are definitely making the best of it,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “I’d like to commend our team for truly thinking outside the box. The many creative online events and activities they’ve dreamed up and shared with our resident families have really brought people together in fun and exciting ways.”

This past May 4th, Riverstone held its May The Fourth Be With You Star Wars costume contest. Many residents took the challenge by submitting pictures of themselves dressed up as their favorite Star Wars character, which included a number of Darth Vaders and Luke Skywalkers—even a Baby Yoda. The most creative photos were entered in a random drawing and the winners were announced on Riverstone’s Instagram page (@LifeAtRiverstoneCA).

To celebrate Cinco De Mayo, Riverstone asked residents How Do You Fiesta? Families that took part in the fun contest submitted photos of the way they celebrated at home—their colorful decorations, refreshing margaritas and authentic Mexican food. Most submissions were delicious-looking shots of tacos since Cinco de Mayo this year occurred on Taco Tuesday. All participants received a prize for entering and the lucky winners took home a fiesta-themed basket full of goodies.

On May 8th, Riverstone held a Virtual Makeup Class via Zoom featuring Esthetician and Professional Makeup Artist, Saroya Melfe. New techniques were shared on daytime and nighttime looks, and those who tuned in were entered in a raffle to win a Lip Balm-Whipped Sugar Scrub Set.

Today’s moms deserve extra appreciation, and Riverstone showed its love for all its wonderful moms with fresh Mother’s Day roses. Dads and kids picked up a long-stemmed rose from The Lodge and presented it to the ones who do so much for our families. Loving smiles from Riverstone moms were seen everywhere.

To celebrate National Pizza Party Day—which is today—Riverstone is offering residents free pizza. Families that signed up will receive one voucher per household for a complimentary medium cheese or pepperoni pizza from Madera Ranchos Pizza Factory, a local favorite.

Staying fit while staying at home (and working off the pizza) is easy with Riverstone’s free Zoom fitness classes. Fitness instructor Maria Mayes is leading men and women in Yoga Shred®, a class combining Yoga and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) for low-impact, high-intensity body sculpting designed to increase flexibility and core strength.

For a special indulgence tonight, Riverstone residents will be enjoying a virtual wine tasting party featuring handcrafted, estate-grown wines from Toca Madera Winery. For only $45, residents are receiving a hand-delivered bottle of 2018 Conmigo and 2015 Tempranillo Reserve and savoring a personal, online tasting with Toca Madera Winemaker, Shayne Vetter.

Coming up on May 18th, Riverstone residents will be volunteering their time to give back to the local community with a canned food drive. Canned food items will benefit Poverello House, a nonprofit organization that serves the hungry, the homeless and the destitute of Fresno.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes. Coming soon is the one-million-square-foot Riverwalk mixed-use lifestyle retail destination. Amenities at Riverstone include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, a dog park, a sustainable water supply and The Lodge community clubhouse with resort-style swimming pools, a trainer-designed fitness center, demonstration kitchen, Gear Barn, outdoor gathering spaces with firepits, and ongoing monthly activities such as self-defense classes, book clubs, arts and crafts, specialty meal cooking classes and more. Future amenities are anticipated to include hiking and biking trails, a community farm and the on-site Stone Creek Elementary school belonging to the award-winning Golden Valley Unified School District.
