Living in a good school district is one of the most important factors for today’s homebuyers, and that makes Riverstone a new-home community that should be on the top of everyone’s list. Most of Riverstone’s younger residents are “Sunbirds” who attend the onsite Stone Creek Elementary school, a TK-6th grade school belonging to the award-winning Golden Valley Unified School District—which is Madera’s number-one school district and one of the highest performing school districts in the Central Valley.

Belonging to Golden Valley USD, Stone Creek Elementary school at Riverstone features 21st century classrooms, a state-of-the-art Library/Media Center, a dedicated music room, outdoor learning spaces and an outdoor amphitheater.
The innovative 15.5-acre campus of Stone Creek Elementary school includes a dynamic sports complex with high-quality sports courts, ball fields and playgrounds.

“Our state-of-the-art school is a milestone in academic achievement that’s been going strong since June of last year,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “It’s been truly great to see teachers, parents and administrative staff members sharing such a strong commitment in providing a quality education to our students. The positive impacts we’ve been seeing in students’ lives—in both academics and physical fitness—have been wonderful.”

An innovative 15.5-acre campus conveniently situated just a short walk or bike ride away from Riverstone’s new-home collections, Stone Creek Elementary school features tech-forward 21st century classrooms, a state-of-the-art Library/Media Center, a dedicated music room, outdoor learning spaces, an outdoor amphitheater and a dynamic sports complex with the highest-quality ball fields and playgrounds.

The principal of Stone Creek Elementary—Shellie Roth—has 24 years of experience in education, including 19 years as an English teacher at the secondary level and five years of experience at the elementary level teaching first grade and transitional kindergarten. “Stone Creek has been absolutely amazing,” said Mrs. Roth. “From our tireless educators and advanced in-class technology to the support and encouragement of the entire community, I feel so blessed to be part of this dedicated and hardworking team.”

Mrs. Roth has been part of the Golden Valley Unified family since 2005, when she joined the Ranchos Middle School staff to teach English and drama. In 2016, Mrs. Roth transferred to Webster Elementary School, where she eventually became the assistant principal. During her time at Webster, she proudly served with the incredible Webster staff and amazing students who earned the California Distinguished School Award as well as the Fresno State Bonner Award for character and civic education.

Stone Creek’s enrollment continues to grow and there are now over 320 students in attendance. On April 2nd, a fundraiser gala in support of the school will be held at the Riverstone Lodge. The Great Gatsby Gala is sure to be an enjoyable evening with cocktails, music, dinner, dancing and an auction.

Comprising nine schools serving nearly 2,000 students, Golden Valley USD maintains an exceptional student-teacher ratio of 24:1 and was named a Silver Award recipient for Best High Schools from U.S. News & World Report. Athletics are strong as well. Over the years, teams at the district’s high school—Liberty High School—have won multiple league championships and CIF Section Championships.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes. Coming soon is the one-million-square-foot Riverwalk mixed-use lifestyle retail destination. Amenities at Riverstone include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, a dog park, a sustainable water supply and The Lodge community clubhouse with resort-style swimming pools, a trainer-designed fitness center, demonstration kitchen, Gear Barn, outdoor gathering spaces with firepits, and ongoing monthly activities such as self-defense classes, book clubs, arts and crafts, specialty meal cooking classes and more. Future amenities are anticipated to include hiking and biking trails, a community farm and much more.
