Riverstone Named CVLUX Community of the Year

February 23, 2019

The New Year is getting off to a great start for Riverstone, the 2,000-acre, amenity-rich, family-centric master-planned community just north of Fresno. Following its top honors in 2018 as the Nation’s Best Master-Planned Community awarded by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Riverstone has just been named the CVLUX 2019 Luxury Award Winner for Community of the Year—a prestigious accolade that honors only the best of the best in the Central Valley.

A community clubhouse like no other, The Lodge features a Great Room with WiFi, state-of-the-art Fitness Center, two swimming pools and spa with poolside cabanas, an outdoor bar with firepits, demonstration kitchen, community garden, outfitter’s cabin and an on-site Concierge.
Just a short walk away from Riverstone’s new homes, Pavilion Park features play equipment, shaded picnic areas and an enclosed mini field designed for soccer and field hockey. It’s just one of many parks in the community’s Lodge District residential neighborhood.

“This is another noteworthy win for our community and we are obviously extremely pleased with the award, especially when you consider that it came from the voting public,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones.

“Whether it’s this recent win or the NAHB’s Nation’s Best Master-Planned Community honors we took home in 2018, the recognition is a testament to the hard work put in by our team and valued partners—and the overall vision we had many years ago to venture far beyond the concept of the typical suburban planned community. As I’ve said before, our goal has always been the creation of a progressive, forward-thinking Central Valley community that families simply love—a place that incorporates top quality, innovative design and a wealth of fun, creative amenities while paying homage to the agrarian spirit of Madera, Fresno and Clovis.”

“From the very beginning, the Riverstone team has had an unwavering conviction regarding the authenticity of place,” said Todd Larner, Senior Principal of Community Planning and Design at William Hezmalhalch Architects, and lead planner for Riverstone. “The unique nature of the project enabled us to incorporate all the things that make a community a great place to call home. At its essence, Riverstone is evolutionary. It’s all about the elements of home, food, gathering and adventure. When you combine these things together in an authentic and simple-yet-elegant way, the experience becomes timeless.”

A total of five national and local homebuilders are currently crafting just about every conceivable notion of home at Riverstone within the community’s first two neighborhoods—the Lodge District and the Town Center District. Wathen Castanos Homes and Bonadelle Neighborhoods are the two newest homebuilders at Riverstone, offering buyers a multitude of stylish, innovative new-home designs to fit every budget.

Many new amenities are coming to the Lodge District neighborhood, a family-friendly enclave anchored by residents’ favorite hangout: the central community clubhouse known as The Lodge. Two more neighborhood parks are on the way (which will bring the total to five), and tail-wagging fun will soon be found at Central Bark, Riverstone’s new dog park, which is currently under construction.

The future hiking and biking trails at Riverstone are planned to eventually link all of the residential districts together. The first trail completed is anticipated to intersect existing agricultural lands, and extend to an overlook affording picturesque orchard vistas.

Also coming to Riverstone is a future on-site elementary school that will belong to the Golden Valley Unified School District. An award-winning district known for its academic excellence and strong athletics program, Golden Valley USD comprises nine schools serving nearly 2,000 students. The district maintains an exceptional student-teacher ratio of 24:1, and was named a Silver Award recipient for Best High Schools from U.S. News & World Report.

The future education campus at Riverstone is planned to accommodate 625 students and feature 21st century classrooms, a state-of-the-art Library/Media Center, a dedicated music room, outdoor learning spaces, a large outdoor amphitheater and a dynamic sports complex.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, multiple community clubhouses, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, a community farm, historic olive and citrus groves, a sustainable water supply and on-site schools.
