Excitement Growing for Riverstone’s Riverwalk

January 29, 2021

First-phase construction continues at the future site of Riverwalk, the one-million-square-foot, mixed-use lifestyle retail destination coming to a prime central location at Avenue 12 and Highway 41 just north of Fresno. Situated just a short walk or bike ride away from the new-home collections of the Riverstone master-planned community, Riverwalk is envisioned as a vibrant indoor-outdoor destination offering a one-of-a-kind live-work-shop-dine-play experience. The project will offer a collection of retail stores, restaurants, a movie theater and hotel, and a unique enclave of condominiums. Riverwalk’s first stores are anticipated to open Summer 2021.

Featuring a contemporary-agrarian design aesthetic accented by creative landscaping and water features, Riverwalk is planned to include condominiums, offices, restaurants, retail stores and a movie theater. Image is an artist’s rendition.

One of the first retail tenants will be Dutch Bros. Coffee, a much-loved brand with Oregon roots that serves specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, freezes, teas and more. Also on its way to Riverwalk is Papi’s Mex Grill, a local favorite that has been serving authentic and delicious Mexican food in the Valley for almost a decade. As many locals know, part of Papi’s popularity is its amazing margaritas and all-day happy hours on Sundays and Mondays.

“Having the right mix of retail tenants that appeals to everyone is something we’ve considered very carefully and continue to diligently think about,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “Our goal is to give consumers what they want, and today that looks like a balance of well-loved mainstream brands plus local, homegrown favorites that reflect the unique spirit of the Valley.”

A central feature of Riverwalk, and the inspiration behind its name, is a river-like water element envisioned to run through the heart of the development. Anticipated to be flanked by comfortable, shaded spaces to sit and relax, beautiful landscaping and whimsical design elements, the setting will feel like an inviting outdoor living room open to sunshine and fresh air.

For those interested in making this exciting urban dynamic their new backyard, a limited collection of above-retail condominiums will soon be offered. More details on this truly unique ownership opportunity will be announced later in the year.

Some of the new tenants—especially Dutch Bros. Coffee—are sure to be a hit with busy parents during school season at Riverstone’s brand-new Stone Creek Elementary school—which is right on track to open in time for the 2021 school year. Belonging to Madera’s #1 school district—Golden Valley Unified—the innovative 15.5-acre campus is planned to feature tech-forward 21st century classrooms, a state-of-the-art Library/Media Center, a dedicated music room, outdoor learning spaces, an outdoor amphitheater and a dynamic sports complex.

Enrollment is now open for Stone Creek Elementary at Riverstone for the 2021 school year. To sign up and enroll, email Shellie at sroth@gvusd.org or call the GVUSD main office at 559-395-5264.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes. Amenities at Riverstone include walkable neighborhoods, parks and open space, a dog park, a sustainable water supply and The Lodge community clubhouse with resort-style swimming pools, a trainer-designed fitness center, demonstration kitchen, Gear Barn, outdoor gathering spaces with firepits, and ongoing monthly activities such as self-defense classes, book clubs, arts and crafts, specialty meal cooking classes and more. Future amenities are anticipated to include hiking and biking trails, a community farm and the on-site Stone Creek Elementary school belonging to the award-winning Golden Valley Unified School District.
